Nová vlna koncertního melodramu / New Wave of Concert Melodrama

The publication New wave of concert melodrama by Věra Šustíková presents the twenty-year history of the unique Czech project "Revival of Concert Melodrama" with an overlap in the international context, namely directly from the point of view of its initiator and main organizer. In the introductory chapters, the author testifies about the genesis of the project and the hidden links between the scientific research within the National Museum, the pedagogical activities and the artistic outputs realized by the Zdeněk Fibich Society. Considering that even in the world context it is an extraordinary phenomenon and that the literature about the concert melodrama is not sporadic only in our country, the publication also takes into account foreign scholars and so it appears in English translation. The documentary section makes available a complete set of programs of the International Festival of Concert Melodrama Prague from 1998–2017, supplemented by an inventory of new works and a rich picture documentation.
