Po nejstarších zahradních schodech lze od bazénu s kamennou hlavou vystoupit nahoru. Odtud vidíte zákoutí mezi pilířem a sešikmenou zdí bývalého skleníku. To je místo, kde si Sidonie Nádherná (1885–1950) založila s pomocí svého velkého obdivovatele, hraběte Herberta Schaffgotsche (1860–1943) z dolnorakouského Purgstallu, malé alpinum. To se později rozrostlo v rozsáhlou sbírku skalniček na terasách pod skleníkem. Tento znalec a sběratel alpské květeny, tvůrce alpin a arboret v mnoha zahradách, jezdil do Janovic v letech 1929–1932. Je i autorem této fotografie.

You can climb up the oldest garden steps from the stone-headed pool – you can see the corner between the pillar and the sloping wall of the former greenhouse from here. This is where Sidonie Nádherná (1885–1950) founded a small Alpine garden with the help of her great admirer, Count Herbert Schaffgotsch (1860–1943) from Purgstall, Lower Austria. It then later spread out into an extensive collection of alpines on the terraces below the greenhouse. This connoisseur and collector of alpine flora, the creator of alpines and arboretums in many gardens travelled to Janovice in the years 1929–1932. He is also the author of this photograph.
